The Egypt Exploration Society is seeking to partner with a UK institution to organise the fourth British Egyptology Congress in 2018. BEC was last run in September 2010, providing a unique opportunity for UK-based students, scholars, and independent researchers to present their ongoing research and discuss their ideas with other attendees. Now, eight years later, the EES wishes to resurrect this event with your help.

Are you interested in hosting BEC4? Do you think that your institution has the right facilities to take on the challenge? If yes, then send us an application today.

How do we apply?
All we need is a letter expressing your institution’s interest in hosting BEC4, sent by a senior academic or member of staff in your institution. This should be accompanied by details of where you intend to host the event and any other additional information you feel would be useful to support your application. Preference will be given to those institutions offering free venues and/or financial support. When considering possible venues it may be useful to note that the last BEC attracted 244 delegates and was held on a weekend, over two full days, with over 70 presentations.

What will the EES provide?
As well as offering financial support, the EES will also provide a dedicated space on its website on which to advertise the conference, upload abstracts and schedules, and communicate with booked delegates. The Society will also handle ticket sales through its online payment system. Representatives of the Society will also address the delegates in order to showcase current EES work.

If you are interested in organising BEC4 in partnership with the EES, then please send your application to carl.graves@ees.ac.ukby 5pm Friday 4th August 2017.

The final decision of which institution will host BEC4 will be made by the EES Board of Trustees by the end of August 2017, based on applications received.
