Great news - the recent Petrie film ('The Man Who Discovered Egypt') presented by the EES Director Chris Naunton, will be repeated on Tuesday 15 May at 22.00 on BBC4. It will then be repeated on Wednesday 16 May at 02:00 and on Monday 21 May at 22:25 on the BBC HD channel: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01f13f4.

It will also be available on BBC iPlayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01f13f4/The_Man_who_Discovered_Egypt/

If you didn't managed to catch the film the first time round, you're in for a treat. The eponymous 'Man who Discovered Egypt' is Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie, the 'Father of Archaeology' and one of the most prolific Egyptian Archaeologists of all time. The EES supported Petrie's excavations at numerous sites in Egypt, and the film includes some fantastic footage of the Petrie material now housed in the EES Lucy Gura Archive.

Petrie, taking a rare break from work

When it was first aired, the programme attracted a huge audience, which is great news for the Society. We're delighted the BBC are offering this repeat, and hope that you will tune in!
