Amelia Edwards, founder of the Egypt Exploration Fund (later Society), will shortly be honoured with an English Heritage blue plaque at her former London home. The plaque will be unveiled on Thursday 19 March 2015*, and we would like to offer two Society members the opportunity to attend the event and a lunch afterwards.
To enter our prize draw, go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/62XRKBF and take our quiz. The lucky winners will be selected from the correct entries. The competition closes on 1 March, and winners will be notified on 2 March. Please only enter if you will be able to attend on 19 March.
To lead up to the unveiling, we will be following Amelia’s famous voyage up the Nile, drawing upon her own words and illustrations, plus archive and modern photographs. To join us on the journey, check our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/egyptexplorationsociety, at weekly intervals starting 23 January, or follow us on Twitter, https://twitter.com/TheEES. We will also post the whole itinerary as a news item on this website.
*Building works permitting. Should work currently being undertaken at the property overrun, the unveiling will be deferred to Thursday 16 April.
