On 22nd/23rd March 2013 the EES will be hosting, jointly with the Egyptian Supreme Council for Antiquities, the third Delta Survey Workshop in Cairo, with papers from colleagues of many nationalities who are involved in fieldwork or research in the Nile Delta.
The first one-day Workshop was held in 2009 and was the very first ‘news’ item reported on the then recently-redesigned EES website, see here, with links to the full report on the proceedings and photographs on Flickr.
Following the success of the first Workshop, the programme was expanded to two days in 2011 and Patricia Spencer reported on the event as it happened on the Delta Survey blog.
Those attending the 2013 Workshop will be welcomed on behalf of the Society by our Chair, Dr Aidan Dodson, and on behalf of the SCA by Dr Mohamed Abd el-Maksoud. Around 70 colleagues who work in the Delta, including most of the EES Field Directors, will be attending and 26 are giving papers. We are particularly pleased that many SCA Inspectors who are based in the Delta will be presenting the results of their research. The programme and abstracts can be downloaded here.
Since space is limited, attendance at the Workshop has had to be by invitation only but updates will be posted on the Delta Survey blog and on Twitter @PatriciaSpencer and @EESDeltaSurvey.
