Tomorrow is the most important annual date in the Society’s events programme when we have our winter Study-Day, followed by our Annual General Meeting, the Annual Lecture and our Christmas Party, all in the Brunei Gallery at the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London
The Study Day Howard Carter: the Man behind the Mask starts at 9.30 (registration and tea/coffee) and the speakers are the EES Chair, Dr Aidan Dodson, John Wyatt and Lee Young, Marcel Marée and Dr Marianne Eaton-Krauss. The full programme can be found here and tickets can still be booked online or by phoning the London office: 020 7242 1880.
The Study Day will end at 2.00 and, after a lunch break, will be followed at 3.00 by the Society’s Annual General Meeting. The Agenda for the AGM was mailed to all Members in November, together with brief biographies of nominees for election as Trustees and the summary Report and Accounts for 2011-12. The full Accounts can be downloaded here.
After the AGM, at 4.30, the Society’s Annual Lecture (tickets not needed) will be given by Dr Jacobus van Dijk on The pre-royal career of Horemheb, or How the General became King, and the Christmas Party (tickets) from 6.00 when there will be an opportunity to discuss the days’ events with the speakers, EES Staff and Trustees over glasses of wine (or beer or soft drinks) and mince pies.
We are all looking forward to seeing as many Members as possible tomorrow for what promises to be a very full, but fascinating, day!
The EES team.
