At the end of another very successful year for the Society, we would like to send all our members and supporters throughout the world our very best wishes for the holidays and for a prosperous New Year.
2012 promises to be another exciting year for the Society - we should have five projects in the field in Egypt in the spring and our Field Directors will again be posting updates online from sites such as Tell el-Daba, Tell Basta and in Minufyeh to keep you informed about the fieldwork and research you are funding. The Lucy Gura Archive Project is making good progress with the cataloguing and re-storage of the Society's field records of almost 130 years of excavation in Egypt and Sudan, and reports as the work progresses will be posted here and included in our Newsletters and in Egyptian Archaeology. The events programme is still being planned but will be again enhanced and we have another members' tour to Egypt planned, with Ancient World Tours, for November. The tour will be guided by Chris Naunton who is succeeding Patricia Spencer as Director of the Society in January. Chris is also involved in filming for a BBC documentary he will be presenting on the life of Flinders Petrie, one of the Society's first excavators.
We look forward to keeping you informed and involved in the Society's work in 2012.
